Field reports from working writers

August 2008 Call for Submissions

On Failure

At Blood Orange Review, we never make mistakes. So we’re curious about how this whole thing with rejection and failure works. What’s the worst typo you’ve ever committed? Are you brave enough to share, word for word, your most embarrasing rejection letter? Is Samuel Beckett’s cry of “Fail again. Fail better.” your personal motto? Let’s hear it.

Selected entries will be published on our Blood Orange Review blog. Ideal submissions will give us a concise and vivid glimpse into a writer’s working life, whether published or not. To be considered for the next shift, your submission must be received by August 31, 2008. Don't fail us now!

Send submissions in the following format to submissions@bloodorangereview.com:

Send one or more short prose entries (100-800 words each). Please send only prose. Poetry can be submitted separately using our general submission guidelines. Paste your name, contact information, and a short bio along with your work in the body of your email AND as an attachment. In the subject heading, please include your last name and “Swing Shift Series.”
